God being most glorified in us is not necessarily the same as God being most glorified

I asked myself the other day if John Piper's famous quote "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him" means that God is most glorified when we are satisfied in Him.

I'm convinced that it's not true. That's not to say that Piper (or Edwards, or...) was wrong. I believe that God is most glorified in us- believers- when we are satisfied in Him. But God is glorified by many things. Christ has preeminence in all things. The simple existence of the heavens glorifies God (Psalm 19:1). God glorifies Himself by proving His glory to unseen spiritual powers (Job 1:6-8; Eph. 3:10). God is even glorified when sinners who don't respond in faith and aren't satisfied in Him are punished for eternity (Rom. 9:22).

After having written most of this, I read Piper's thoughts on almost the same topic.
