My God I Love Thee

My God, I love Thee; not because
I hope for Heav’n thereby,
Nor yet because who love Thee not
May eternally die.
Thou, O my Jesus, Thou didst me
Upon the cross embrace;
For me didst bear the nails and spear,
And manifold disgrace.

And griefs and torments numberless,
And sweat of agony;
E’en death itself; and all for man
Who was Thine enemy.
Then why, O blessed Jesus Christ
Should I not love Thee well?
Not for the hope of winning Heaven,
Nor of escaping hell.

Not with the hope of gaining aught,
Nor seeking a reward,
But as Thyself hast loved me,
O everlasting Lord!
E’en so I love Thee, and will love,
And in Thy praise will sing,
Solely because Thou art my God,
And my eternal King.

Joseph's Lullaby

Go to sleep my Son
This manger for your bed
You have a long road before You
Rest Your little head

Can You feel the weight of Your glory?
Do You understand the price?
Does the Father guard Your heart for now
So You can sleep tonight?

Go to sleep my Son
Go and chase Your dreams
This world can wait for one more moment
Go and sleep in peace

I believe the glory of Heaven
Is lying in my arms tonight
Lord, I ask that He for just this moment
Simply be my child

Go to sleep my Son
Baby, close Your eyes
Soon enough You'll save the day
But for now, dear Child of mine
Oh my Jesus, Sleep tight

It is Not Death to Die

It is not death to die
to leave this weary road
And join the saints who dwell on high
Who've found their home with God.
It is not death to close
The eyes long dimmed by tears
And wake in joy before Your throne
Delivered from our fears.

O Jesus, conquering the grave
Your Precious blood has the power to save.
Those who trust in You
Will in Your mercy find
That it is not death to die.

It is not death to fling
Aside this earthly dust
And rise with string and noble wing
To live among the Just.
It is not death to hear
The key unlock the door
That sets us free from mortal years
To praise You evermore.

Beach Boys Parody

by the Apologetix

As Long As You Are Glorified

Excellent Job-like lyrics

Shall I take from Your hand Your blessings
Yet not welcome any pain
Shall I thank You for days of sunshine
Yet grumble in days of rain
Shall I love You in times of plenty
Then leave You in days of drought
Shall I trust when I reap a harvest
But when winter winds blow, then doubt

Oh let Your will be done in me
In Your love I will abide
Oh I long for nothing else as long
As You are glorified

Are You good only when I prosper
And true only when I’m filled
Are You King only when I’m carefree
And God only when I’m well
You are good when I’m poor and needy
You are true when I’m parched and dry
You still reign in the deepest valley
You’re still God in the darkest night

Only Thing

I heard someone say the other day
They'd seen in me true love displayed
Blessed by something I had done for them

No sooner had they said these words
I found myself somehow disturbed
Uneasy as I took their compliment

Cause I know the heart inside this man
I know the truth of who I am...

The only thing that's good in me is Jesus
The only thing that's good in me is Jesus
I know me well enough to know
No matter what this life may show
The only thing that's good in me is Jesus

If you could walk the hallways of my heart
And see things as they really are
I wonder if you might be surprised

Seeing faded walls of pride and fear
Rooms I've filled with faithless tears
And corners where I've stood in compromise

But you'd see the work His grace has done
You'd know just how far I've come

In a thousand years
When the dust of this world clears
And I look back on my life
And see in perfect light

Crazy

Why I would I spend my life longing for the day that it would end..
Why would I spend my time pointing to another man..
Isn't that crazy

How can I find hope in dying, with promises unseen..
How can I learn your way is better
In everything I'm taught to be..
Isn't that crazy

I have not been called to the wisdom of this world..
But to a God who's calling out to me..
And even though the world may think
I'm losing touch with reality
It would be crazy
To choose this world over eternity

And if I boast let me boast
Of filthy rags made clean
And if I glory let me glory
In my Savior's suffering
Isn't that crazy

And as I live this daily life
I trust you for everything
And I will only take a step
When I feel You leading me
Isn't that crazy

I Will Sing of My Redeemer

I will sing of my Redeemer
He who took the nails for me
I’ve been purchased, I’ve been pardoned
Bound to Him I’m truly free

I will sing of my Redeemer
How He sought me while a slave
Loosed me from the curse of sin and
From the power of the grave

I will sing of my Redeemer
Lift my voice to praise my Lord
Ransomed by His blood and mercy
I am His forevermore

I will sing of my Redeemer
He who bore my cross, my curse
Came a servant, chose to suffer
Lifted up and cast from earth

I will sing of my Redeemer
Tell about the grace I’ve known
Here on earth with those forgiven
And one day around His throne

While We Were Sleeping

Lyrics from "While You Were Sleeping" by Casting Crowns and appropriate Scritpure

Little town of Bethlehem, looks like another silent night

Micah 5:2

“But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,

Too little to be among the clans of Judah,

From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel.

His goings forth are from long ago,

From the days of eternity.”

3     Therefore He will give them up until the time

When she who is in labor has borne a child.

Then the remainder of His brethren

Will return to the sons of Israel.

Above your deep and dreamless sleep a giant star lights up the sky

Numbers 24:17

17     “I see him, but not now;

I behold him, but not near;

A star shall come forth from Jacob,

A scepter shall rise from Israel,

And shall crush through the forehead of Moab,

And tear down all the sons of Sheth.

And while you’re lying in the dark, there shines an everlasting light

John 3:19

“This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness

rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.

For the king has left his throne, and is sleeping in a manger tonight

Matt 1:23

Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name

Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”

Oh, Bethlehem what you have missed while you were sleeping

Matt 2:1

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the

 east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,

2     “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”

For God became a man and stepped into your world today

John 1:14

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only

begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Oh Bethlehem, you will go down in history as a city with no room for its king.

Matt 2:4

Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the

 Messiah was to be born.

5     They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is what has been written by the prophet:

Mary shivers in the cold, trying to keep the savior warm

Born among the animals, wrapped in dirty rags

Luke 2:12

12     “This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

because there was no room for him in the world He came to save

Luke 2:7     And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him

in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Oh Bethlehem, what you had missed while you were sleeping

For God became a man and stepped into your world today

Oh Bethlehem, you will go down in history as a city with no room for its king, while you were sleeping.

United States of America, looks like another silent night

As we’re sung to sleep by philosophies that say “save the trees and kill the children”

Colossians 2:8

8     See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according

to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than

 according to Christ.

And while we’re lying in the dark, there’ll be a shout heard cross the eastern sky

1 Thessalonians 4:16

16     For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel

and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

For the bridegroom will return and carry his bride away in the night

Matthew 25:10

10     “And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those

who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut.

America, what will we miss while we are sleeping?

Matthew 24:42

42     “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.

Will Jesus come again and leave us slumbering where we lay?

Matthew 25:13

13     “Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour.

America, will we go down in history as a nation with no room for its king?

Will we be sleeping?

All The Wolrd Was Waiting

All the world was waiting

For the Promised One

Prophets through the ages

Claimed that He would come

Would He be a Warrior

Or a conquering King

Could He be the one to save us from our sin and suffering?

All the world was waiting

the night that you were born

Go d of Life Eternal

In a Fragile form

Shepherds gathered closer

Gazing at your face

Wondering How this helpless child could save a fallen human race

All the world was waiting

As you became a man

Truth was in your teaching

Healing in your hands

Though your heart was sinless

 You laid down your life

To pay the debt that only perfect love could satisfy

Now the world is waiting

For another day

When your sovereign hand will turn

The final page

And all will be accomplished

Our trials and tears will end

And those who’ve longed to see you will never wait again.

Lo, How a Rose E're Blooming

Lo, how a rose e'er blooming,

From tender stem hath sprung.
Of Jesse's lineage coming,
As men of old have sung;
It came, a flow'ret bright,
Amid the cold of winter,
When halfspent was the night.

Isaiah 'twas foretold it,

The Rose I have in mind,
With Mary we behold it,
The virgin mother kind;
To show God's love aright,
She bore to us a Savior,
When halfspent was the night.

O Flower, whose fragrance tender

With sweetness fills the air,
Dispel with glorious splendour
The darkness everywhere;
True man, yet very God,
From Sin and death now save us,
And share our every load.

Mystery

A child was born on Christmas Day
Born to save the world
But long before the world began
He knew His death was sure
The pain and strife secured

Mystery, how He came
To be a man
But greater still
How His death was in His plan
God predestined that His Son would die
And He still created man
Oh, what love is this
That His death was in His hands

The Christmas trees
They glow so bright
With presents all around
But Christmas brought
A tree of life
With blood that sacrificed
The greatest gift in life

I am just a man and
Can’t begin to comprehend
When You look into this traitor’s eyes
What do You see that justifies the Lamb

God predestined that His
Son would die
And He still created man
Oh, what love is this
That His death was in His plan
Mystery, mystery

Of the Father's Love Begotten

Of the Father's love begotten
Ere the worlds began to be,
He is Alpha and Omega,
He the Source, the Ending He,
Of the things that are, that have been,
And that future years shall see
Evermore and evermore.

Oh, that birth forever blessed
When the Virgin, full of grace,
By the Holy Ghost conceiving,
Bare the Savior of our race,
And the Babe, the world's Redeemer,
First revealed His sacred face
Evermore and evermore.

O ye heights of heaven, adore Him;
Angel hosts, His praises sing;
Powers, dominions, bow before Him
And extol our God and King.
Let no tongue on earth be silent,
Every voice in concert ring
Evermore and evermore.

This is He whom Heaven-taught singers
Sang of old with one accord;
Whom the Scriptures of the prophets
Promised in their faithful word.
Now He shines, the Long-expected;
Let creation praise its Lord
Evermore and evermore.

Christ, to Thee, with God the Father,
And, O Holy Ghost, to Thee
Hymn and chant and high thanksgiving
And unending praises be,
Honor, glory, and dominion,
And eternal victory
Evermore and evermore.

Ancient Words

Holy words long preserved
for our walk in this world,
They resound with God's own heart.
Oh let the ancient words impart

Words of Life, words of Hope
Give us strength, help us cope
In this world, where e'er we roam
Ancient words will guide us Home.

Ancient words ever true
Changing me and changing you,
We have come with open hearts
Oh let the ancient words impart

Holy words of our Faith
Handed down to this age
Came to us through sacrifice
Oh heed the faithful words of Christ.

Holy words long preserved
For our walk in this world.
They resound with God's own heart
Oh let the ancient words impart.

from "My Savior My God"

I am not skilled to understand
What God has willed, what God has planned
I only know at His right hand
Stands One who is my Savior...

That He who lives to be my King
Once died to be my Savior...

from "Be Ye Glad"

In these days of confused situations
In this night of a restless remorse
When the heart and the soul of a nation
Lay wounded and cold as a corpse
From the grave of the innocent Adam
Comes a song bringing joy to the sad
Oh, your cry has been heard and the ransom
Has been paid up in full, be ye glad

Oh, be ye glad Oh, be ye glad
Every debt that you've ever had
Has been paid up in full by the grace of the Lord
Be ye glad, be ye glad, be ye glad

So be like lights on the rim of the water
Giving hope in a storm sea of night
Be a refuge amidst the slaughter
Of these fugitives in their flight
For you are timeless and part of a puzzle
You are winsome and young as a lad
And there is no disease or no struggle
That can pull you from God, be ye glad

Oh, be ye gladOh, be ye glad
Every debt that you ever had
Has been paid up in full by the grace of the Lord
Be ye glad, be ye glad, be ye glad

from "We Sing Your Mercies"

Should he who made the stars be hung upon the tree?
And should the hands that healed be driven through for me?
Should he who gave us breath be made to swallow gall?
Should he who gave us breath and life, be slaughtered for us all?

Should he who is the light be cast into the dark?
And should the Lord of Love, be pierced through his own heart?
Should he who called us friends be deserted by us all?
Should he who lived a sinless life be punished for our faults?

from "How Firm a Foundation"

How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said,
You, who unto Jesus for refuge have fled?

In every condition, in sickness, in health;
In poverty’s vale, or abounding in wealth;
At home and abroad, on the land, on the sea,
As thy days may demand, shall thy strength ever be.

Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed,
For I am thy God and will still give thee aid;I
’ll strengthen and help thee, and cause thee to stand
Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.

When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
The rivers of woe shall not thee overflow;
For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.

When through fiery trials thy pathways shall lie,
My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply;
The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.

The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose,
I will not, I will not desert to its foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake.
