The Substandard Quality of Moral Parenting

If Christian parenting is Christian just because it's "moral," can we truly distinguish it from other moral parenting efforts, such as taught by Mormons and good atheists? Or is their something else that should identify Christian parenting?

It was suggested to me by Elyse Fitzpatrick that there should indeed be a distinct difference between Mormon and Christian parenting. That should be what is different in the beliefs- we have the Gospel. Christian parenting (and all Christian activity) should be markedly different than other moral attempts because of Christ and Him crucified.

The difference between Gospel-centered parenting and moral parenting is not like the difference between a car that runs on gasoline and a car that runs on diesel. It's more like the difference between one that runs on gasoline and one that runs on rocks. Only one works. Teaching kids to be "good" or moral cannot touch the heart, because it's sinful and dead until Christ. Only the Gospel works for our kids.
