
What a paradox.
Is it possbile to be too far-sighted to see what matters today? Is it possible to be too focused on my daily sanctification and ignore the larger plan of God? The answer to both is "Yes," at least as far as I see in myself. 
It's easy to focus on doing my devotions and growing with my wife and forget about the return of Christ and the judgment of the unsaved. At the same time, if I get hooked on it, I can let myself think only about the end times and how Mahmoud Ahmadenijad may play a role and forget about what I need to do today. Can we find a happy medium?
Yes. God's overaching goal wil be accomplished by the accumulation God working through us in little ways. By each of us faithfully growing and reaching out. And a proper, whole view of God's plan for eternity will change us in the little things. An end-times-colored perspective of
