Movie Review-- The Great Escape

The Great Excape

Genre: War, Drama, Action

Summary: Allied POW airmen escape from the camp designed to keep escape artists.

My grade: 96%

Pros:

• Excellent story to put into film. It is not just a movie for movies' sake- it tells the story of Allied soldiers doing everything in their means to serve their country.
• While portraying the Allies as the heroes they are, the Germans do not recieve an unfair negative image.
• Great actors.
• It's a true story.
• Awesome theme song.

Cons:

• The typical '60s cheesy acting and/or effects.
• Some mild departures from the historical account.
• Should have used "Ives" more.
• Some typical '60s action sequences that could use some help.
  

Other thoughts: I decided to watch this late Monday night in honor of Memorial Day. It was quite the reminder of not only the situations and circumstance our soldiers go through, but also the determination and resolve with which they (granted, not all) endured them.
