Tolerance of Violence

Regarding violence in entertainment, I don't think the question in many Christian's minds is whether or not violence is inherently wrong to see/read. I think the question for many (and myself) is whether the violence presented is tolerable or too much. Or in other words, does it contribute to the story or is it unnecessarily dwelling on evil? Answers to the last two questions will vary by person...
