Amos 5:18-20 and Christmas

Christmas is a time that many people focus on peace, joy, happiness, and the baby in the manger. Unfortunately, many who dwell on such things (and there are admittedly many that don't) have the wrong understanding of the true nature of these concepts. Such were some Jews in regards to the day of the Lord when Amos 5:18-20 was written:
Woe to you who long
for the day of the LORD!
Why do you long for the day of the LORD ?
That day will be darkness, not light.
19 It will be as though a man fled from a lion
       only to meet a bear,
as though he entered his house
and rested his hand on the wall
only to have a snake bite him.
20 Will not the day of the LORD be darkness, not light—
pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness?

What woe will be to those who only think they're actually celebrating Christmas (and Easter), to the stereotypical biannual church attenders. What is coming because the baby came in the manger will not be peace and joy for all.
