A neat little thing, this book delves into a question not often asked by we who take the story for granted. And while it seemed (to me) lacking a consistent train of thought from the beginning, I was actually shocked by the conclusion. The Thoenes explain not only why a crown but suggest an all-but-hidden cultural understanding of why the crown of thorns that wowed me.
