The Last Days B
by Joel Rosenberg
Fiction
The second volume in Rosenberg's current events/end times thriller series, The Last Days is really just the second half of the first story, The Last Jihad. We pick up right where we left of with Jon Bennett trying to broker peace in the Middle East on behalf of President MacPherson.
As is obvious from history, such peace is difficult to achieve. Not only are the willing Israelis and Palestinians quick to disagree, but the many unwilling parties are quick to intervene.
The amazing aspect of this book/series is how it seems to flow in direct chronology from our current events like a nonfiction account. It is written in the context of a post-George W. Bush administration, in the middle of the war on terror. I don't know if I would be as quick as he seems to be to say that our current circumstances are the Last Days, but he certainly makes a good case. And he does it with a very good fiction story with great characters and an engaging and believable plot.
