It's quite amazing to be able to see all the top athletes in the world competing. It's sad that broadcasting politics, journalism, and political correctness get in the way of some of it.
I know that NBC wants to broadcast the events that the most people want to see, but I am sure that some Americans would like to see one of their soldiers win Gold in trap shooting or be able to see a wider variety of events, even if no American is participating, rather than seeing every single heat Michael Phelps qualifies in.
And thought I do like China and Chinese people and understand that they have world-class athletes, too, something is missing when I watch the gymnastics competition, expecting to cheer for my country but hear nothing but brutal criticism and hesitant praise. Conversely, the American reporters couldn't help but fawn over everything Chinese and pretend silence on the age of the Chinese girls.
Anyway, positive thoughts to come later...
