Colditz M
The Untold Story of World War II's Great Escapes
by Henry Chancellor
Non-Fiction
This book has been sitting on my "To Read" list since I bought it in high school. I was not disappointed by the book I had waited long to read.
This is the story of a German castle, Colditz, used to house Allied POW's during WWII. The officers sent here had earned imprionment by an anti-German attitude and a history of escaping (and, obviously, recaprture). In essence, this prison camp was a collection of escape artists.
Though the percentage of successful escapes was less than other camps, more than likely due to the heightened security, the conception and execution of some attempts were definitely stories worth reading.
